1) UCU Marking and Assessment Boycott This Term
Bristol UCU will not be participating in any further industrial action including a marking and assessment boycott this 21/22 academic year. Action short of a strike also came to an end as of yesterday.
For other branches with a mandate for action, UCU’s marking and assessment boycott is scheduled to start, at the earliest. on Monday, 6th June. This is currently in support of our Four Fights dispute; any further USS pension industrial action will be announced shortly.
As regards the Four Fights dispute, the dispute is far from over. For example, UCU negotiators along with other campus unions involved in the latest pay negotiations for 2022-23 report no substantive shift by the employers on workload, pay inequality and the use of precarious contracts, with the employers offering ‘a 2.75% sub-inflationary rise on the majority of pay points’.
We will continue discussions with other campus unions on the cost of living crisis and related pay claims.
The UCU Bristol branch is continuing to meet with UoB management regarding health and safety concerns, as well as USS issues.
